Ideal for: Packaging, Paper Converting and Assembly Applications, Porous or Non-Porous Substrates

Applied as an emulsion (mixture of two or more liquids that are normally non-mixable) that is convertedto an adhesive when the water evaporates. Water-based adhesives are ideal for porous or non-porous substrates. These adhesives generally develop a bond by losing water through evaporation or penetration into the substrates; at least one substrate must be absorbent or porous in order to form a strong bond. Water-based adhesives are safe, non-toxic, non-flammable, water dilutable, and water cleanable.

Water-based adhesives come in a variety of chemistries and compositions, and can be categorized as either natural or synthetic polymers. Following is a breakdown of water-based adhesives by composition:

Water Based Resin Adhesives (White Glues) are comprised of polymers and additives mixed with water that create an adhesive for various applications and substrates. Water is the vehicle that transports the mixture to the surfaces and must evaporate or be absorbed for the adhesive to perform. The resin adhesive is made up of capsules that burst when water leaves the mixture or when they are compressed so the adhesive can form a single film between the substrates.

Water Based Resin Adhesives Provide:

  • broad range of adhesion to a variety of substrates
  • fast setting, relative to solution technology
  • easy handling due to liquidity at room temperature
  • safe, non-toxic, non-flammable, water dilutable and water cleanable
  • aging stability of bonds
  • resistance to heat, cold and oxidation
  • very strong bonds
